Swim clinics set for June and July

Doug Alban

Swimming Head Coach Doug Alban will hold three clinics this summer focusing on the disciplines of free style, stroke and individual medley.

The clinics are for swimmers age 10-18 and will be held in the Paul C. Duke Aquatic Center on campus. The freestyle clinic is June 21-23, the stroke clinic is July 12-14, and the individual medley clinic is July 26-28.

The cost is $150 per clinic or $400 if registering for all three. A team discount is available for five or more athletes from the same YMCA, USA Swimming, high school or summer swim team for $120 per athlete. Registration is limited to the first 40 participants.

Each clinic will consist of four sessions: 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday, and 8 to 10 a.m. Friday. A group activity will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday, and swimmers should bring their own lunch for Thursday and a water bottle for each session.

Alban was an NCAA Division I swimmer for Loyola College and has been coaching at every level of swimming over the past decade. For the past eight years, he has coached multiple NCAA Division III All-Americans and postgraduate scholarship winners at the collegiate level.

Additionally, he has coached at the famed North Baltimore Aquatic Club under the tutelage of Bob Bowman, coach of 23-time gold medal Olympian, Michael Phelps.
