In Emily’s spare time, she heads to the local SPCA, where she cleans cages, mops floors, washes dishes, and, most importantly, showers the animals with love.

“Volunteering is awesome. It’s the best feeling ever. I can play with these animals that don’t have a home and give them some love.”

Emily was familiar with the SPCA but had never been there. When she started missing Bailey, her golden retriever at home, she knew she needed to get – and give – some pet love.

“I love making the cats purr and letting them out of the cages to play with the other cats. As for the dogs, I take them for walks and run them on the trail.”

She’s made many “fur-iends” and adopted a 10-month-old golden retriever named Levi to join Bailey in Punxsutawney. Emily also serves as an animal advocate, encouraging her friends and others to visit the SPCA in the hopes they’ll follow her example and also adopt a pet.

“It has worked for me and makes me so grateful.”
