  • “I like the size of the campus, not too big ... not too small.”

  • Matt Moonan, a double major in accounting and business management from Bradford

Matt’s a member of the men’s golf team. Not just any golf team, but the 2018 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship golf team.

“I like that it’s an individual sport with a team aspect. Ultimately, it’s just you going against the course, but you’re making every shot count to bring in the best possible score to help the team.

Matt definitely did his part in helping the team win the championship. He tied for 10th place overall – out of 44 golfers – with a two-day combined score of 159.

“We reached our goal this year of winning our conference championship, and next year we will set new goals.”

Matt’s not only a great golfer. He’s also a great juggler. No, he doesn’t juggle golf balls or putters or woods. But he has managed to juggle successfully time on the links, effort in the classroom, and volunteerism in the community.

Matt’s not too far away from a perfect GPA despite having two majors. Additionally, he volunteers in the community and helps out at wrestling events, both for the Junior Olympics wrestlers and local high school wrestlers. When the weather won’t let him golf outside, he stays in shape by going to the YMCA early each morning.

For all of his efforts, Matt received the Scholar Athlete of the Year award during Pitt-Bradford's annual Athletics Awards Banquet.

For Matt, staying on top of everything is simple:

“I juggle athletics and academics by practicing during the day and studying at night when it’s not possible to golf.”
