Short Bio
Dr. Wensel has both academic and professional experience in the field of criminal justice. In 2002 she graduated from the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy, and worked as a police officer for nearly 15 years – 13 of which was spent with a multi-county narcotics task force, where she served as an undercover agent. While serving as a police officer, she pursued her academic career; here, she developed a strong desire to further her research in the field of criminal justice and to share her knowledge of the field with students at the collegiate level. Her hands-on knowledge, combined with her academic specialties, guide her research and service endeavors.
Research, Accomplishments, and Publications
Dr. Wensel has research interests in policing and juvenile delinquency. Prior to joining Pitt-Bradford, she previously taught many criminal justice courses, including Introduction to Criminal Justice; Law Enforcement Administration; Security and Events Management; Diversity Issues in Criminal Justice; Deviance; and Law and Society.
