    Staff Positions

    The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford is seeking qualified applicants for a position in Facilities Management.  The position is classified as Maintenance Worker III in accordance with the terms set forth with Local Union No. 95-95A International Union of Operating Engineers.

    Requirements: The position requires a minimum of three years’ experience with large commercial HVAC equipment. Applicant must be able to demonstrate proficiency using gauges, measuring devices, and common HVAC hand tools.

    Desired Requirements:  Five years’ experience, trade or vocational school graduate, an approved apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job training.

    Duties: The maintenance worker III will perform duties necessary to operate and maintain the heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and electrical systems in order to provide a comfortable environment in classrooms, laboratories, and offices on campus. Responsibilities include inspecting and operating air conditioning units and machinery to determine that all are functioning properly; reading thermometers and gauges and recording readings; maintaining and repairing systems; testing efficiency of system with instruments and making adjustments to thermostatic controls and blower; lubricating compressors, motors, and other moving parts; testing large systems before placing them in operation; testing joints and connections according to type of refrigerant used; repairing leaks and retesting; draining system by means of vacuum pump; operating system for several hours, making adjustments to thermostats and valves to ensure proper control to protect from freezing; possibly having minor supervisory duties when helper is assigned to assist in the work of the mechanic; and performing related duties as assigned.

    Master's or higher degree in an appropriate field, as well as relevant teaching experience. A bachelor's degree and relevant experience may be sufficient for selected technical or professional fields.

    Ph.D. and commitment to teaching undergraduates required. Responsibilities include teaching Introductory Biology lecture and labs, an upper-level Molecular Biology course for majors with a lab, and a non-majors biology course.

    This position has the possibility for rehire for the fall 2019 Term (September-December).
