Explanation of Fees

  • Students and Panther

  • Computer Fee: This fee funds student access to the university networks (including wireless), computer labs, Internet access and e-mail accounts. It also supports administrative computing systems, such as those used by the library, my.pitt.edu and PittPay.

Student Activity Fee: The money generated by the student activity fee is used to fund all of the student clubs, organizations and student activities program that are available to all students. The Student Government Association allocates the income from this fee to support many programs that are made available -- usually at no additional cost -- during the academic year.

Wellness Fee: The money generated from this fee supports all of the costs of operating the Student Health Service, in addition, it supports in part the staffing expenses of the Office of Counseling Services. Those costs include the salaries and benefits for two nurses and a secretary, supplies for the Self-Care Center and the retainer for the physician assistant services that are provided on campus to students.

Student Recreation Fee: Money collected for the student recreation fee is used to support the many intramural and recreation programs that are available to students in the Department of Athletics and Recreational Sports. The fee also funds the staff, which supports these programs.
