Short Bio

Aaron is the coordinator of Creative Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. He earned his undergraduate degree in Engineering Technology at the University of Arkansas at Grantham, Master of Advanced Study in Integrated Physics at the American College of Education, and Advanced Certificate in School Administration at the University of Rochester. Mr. Straus is a Ph.D. candidate at Kairos University and an EdD candidate for STEM Education at the University of Pittsburgh. At the University of Pittsburgh, Straus studies safety engineering and their applications to sustainable operations. Over the course of his career, Aaron developed numerous award-winning programs in Science & Technology. While serving in K-12 public schools, Aaron led a task force to start a college-credit pathway program, which afforded secondary students a choice of college study in engineering technology, agricultural science, or business management. In 2019, Straus was honored by the New York State Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE-NY) for his contribution to engineering education and STEM facility design. Mr. Straus currently serves as Associate Editor for the ITEEA Technology and Engineering Education Journal, a peer-reviewed journal discussing technology and engineering education. Straus considers himself a lifelong learner. Over the years, he has actively participated in several university fellowship programs. His primary research interests lie in engineering education, safety engineering, and advanced manufacturing.
