Short Bio

Rick Minard’s process involves painting two separate paintings, then cutting them into strips and weaving them together. The intention is to combine various visual elements in ways that explore the ideas that those combinations imply. These works are based on pattern, color and texture and the interrelationships between these visual elements. Each individual painting is an abstract exploration of gesture and the properties of surface and tone. They are then woven together into organized arrangements. He includes the human form as a recognizable element for the viewer.
