Options FAQ
We’ve tried to anticipate some of the questions you may have as you proceed through the admissions process and have answered them below. However, if you need more information or have other questions, please let us know. Give us a call at 1-800-872-1787, or an e-mail at admissions@upb.pitt.edu.
Q. I applied to the Pittsburgh campus. Why was I offered admission to the Bradford campus?
A. As more students apply to the Pittsburgh campus, admission becomes even more competitive. For students whose academic profile suggests that they could benefit from the University’s educational philosophy, strengths, and reputation, the Admissions Committee may offer admission to one of the three regional campuses. At Pitt-Bradford, we offer the same philosophy, strengths, and international reputation that Pittsburgh offers; however, we offer it on a campus where you can explore and belong and be inspired.
Q. I have been optioned to the Bradford campus, do I have to reapply?
A. No. You have already been accepted, and there is no need to reapply.
Q: How do I pay my deposit to secure my spot?
Q. Are there any academic scholarships available for incoming freshmen?
A. Yes. These scholarships are based on merit, not need. The scholarships range from $12,500 to $1,000, depending on your high school grade point average and SAT/ACT score, whether you’ll live on campus or commute, and if you’re an in-state or out-of-state student.
Q. If I decide to start at Pitt-Bradford, can I relocate to Pittsburgh?
A. Yes. You can relocate to Pittsburgh after you meet the minimum requirements.
Q. I have been optioned to another regional campus. Can I be considered at Pitt-Bradford?
A. Yes. Contact the Admissions Office at the campus where you were accepted. Ask them to forward your information to the Admissions Office at Pitt-Bradford. Also, ask them to deactivate your application at that campus. We ask you to do that because within the University of Pittsburgh system, you may only have one active application open at a time. Deactivate does not mean cancel, it simply means that the campus will step back and allow you to be admitted to the campus you requested. You can then make your ultimate decision.
Q. I am unfamiliar with the Bradford campus, how can I get information about the campus?
A. You can request more information from the Admissions Office or navigate our website. But the best way to learn more is to visit us. We offer several Daily On Campus Visits and other events throughout the year to give you a chance to visit and get to know us. If you’d like to schedule a visit, you can contact the Admissions Office by calling 1-800-872-1787, emailing admissions@upb.pitt.edu.
Q. Where is the Bradford campus located?
A. If you take a look at the map here, you can see we are located in northern Pennsylvania.
Q. How big is the Bradford campus?
A. Our campus encompasses 491 acres, which are nestled in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains and adjacent to the Allegheny National Forest. We currently have 1,100 students attending classes. The average class size is 17 students, and the student-to-faculty ratio is 12:1. More important is what our students say about our size and the campus environment and how those factors affect them.
