Evan Baldwin ’24
Bachelor’s degree in biology
Enrolled in doctorate program at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine
Evan Baldwin had always been interested in science and wanted a career in medicine. He heard that his biology professor Dr. David Merwine was revisiting a research project to study snails, and Evan wanted to be part of it.
He reached out to Dr. Merwine. “Hey, I hear you need someone to help with your research. I could be that person.”
Turns out, Evan was that person.
He worked closely with Dr. Merwine to study how local freshwater snails were affected by glyphosate, the primary chemical found in a popular herbicide.
Evan’s research experience gave him the opportunity to apply what he learned in the classroom and learn more about scientific processes, which will come in handy now that he’s a student at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA, where he will earn a doctorate in osteopathic medicine.
