It didn’t take long for Mike to find a job in his field when he graduated. Fewer than four weeks after graduation, he was hired as an academy technical solution analyst for Cerner Corp., which designs health information technology, and is based at Cerner’s headquarters in Kansas City, Mo.

Those small classes gave me the tools to excel in my field.

Mike said there were three factors that successfully prepared him for the job market.

1. He gained hands-on experience.

“What I love about the CIST major is the projects. For nearly every class in our major, we worked on a project of some sort pertaining to what we learned throughout the year. We had the opportunity to get real-world experience managing our own projects as well as the luxury of picking what we liked do.”

2. He was taught by professors who were passionate.

“They were some of the smartest people I have ever met in my life. All of them had practical experience in the field for things that they were teaching, so no lesson was ever boring. The professors at Pitt-Bradford truly go beyond to make sure your college experience is a success.”
