Ackley named new coordinator of community engagement
Pitt-Bradford has named Tonya Ackley as the coordinator of its new Office of Community Engagement and the Harriett B. Wick Chapel.
Before beginning her new position, Ackley served as the director of residential life at Pitt-Bradford.
Ackley is the primary resource person for students who want to get involved in community service or who are looking for information on internships related to their academic majors and/or interests.
Likewise, she is also the primary contact for community groups that would like to connect students with volunteer opportunities through their organizations.
Ackley is also responsible administering Wick Chapel events and activities and works closely with the offices of Conference Services, Facilities Management and Auxiliary Services to coordinate use of the chapel for public and private functions.
Ackley will report to Dr. Holly Spittler, associate dean of student affairs.
A graduate of Clarion University, Ackley received her Master of Arts in student affairs in higher education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and has been involved in community service and leadership development programs during her years in student affairs.
Before coming to Pitt-Bradford, she was the coordinator of career services for Clarion University-Venango and assistant director of residential life and residence director at St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, N.Y.
