Administrative assistant Jackie Streb retires after 24 years

Jackie Streb, administrative assistant in the Division of Management and Education, is retiring this June after 24 years at Pitt-Bradford.

“I’m going to miss the people,” she said. “I loved working with everyone here, especially the students. They keep you young.”

Streb has held two secretarial positions throughout her tenure at the university, beginning in the Natural Science Division in 1987. After an academic restructuring in 2005, she was moved to her current position, where she has since been working with Division Chairwoman Betsy Matz, associate professor of business management.

“She’s great to work with; I see her as my partner here,” Matz said. “There are almost 60 people in this division, and it’s a lot to keep track of. From their schedules to syllabi to book orders – she is on top of everything.”

With her new-found spare time, Streb is looking forward to volunteering more through her church, but also finding time to do things for herself, such as enjoying her hobbies of cooking and sewing.

“Everything I have been doing has been for others, so now I think it’s my time to do a little more for me.”
