A Pitt-Bradford student throws a Frisbee last fall on campus. Students and members of the community alike can test their flying disc skills on the university’s new disc golf course.

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford has a new par-34, 9-hole disc golf course that is available for public use.

The course begins outside the Richard E. and Ruth McDowell Sport and Fitness Center, and loops down Campus Drive, around the Kessel Athletic Complex and returns to the Sport and Fitness Center.

Disc golfers can download the UDISC application and find the “Pitt-Bradford Disc Golf Course” on their phone. This will allow users to see a full view of the 4,031-foot-long course, with all 9 holes in order and provides a map of each hole with tee boxes, and pin positions. The app also can be used to keep your score.

The first tee is on the lawn beside the Sport and Fitness Center. Yellow markers indicate the position of tees. The course follows the McDowell trail east and around the practice field on Campus Drive before crossing to the Kessel Athletic Complex. Holes 5-7 follow the Community Parks Trail and then turn around the university’s facilities building and softball field before returning to the Sport and Fitness Center along Campus Drive.

UDISC reports that there are more than 15,000 disc golf courses worldwide and 21.9 million rounds of disc golf were scored on the app last year.

Pitt-Bradford athletics will host a tournament as part of its PantherFest celebration Sept. 14. The tournament is free and open to the public but requires registration in advance. To register, visit www.upbalumni.org/PantherFest.
