Every spring nursing graduate passes licensing exam

One hundred percent of the students who graduated this spring with an Associate of Science in Nursing degree from Pitt-Bradford passed their licensing exam on the first try.

Dr. Tammy Haley, associate professor of nursing and director of the nursing program, received the news earlier this week from the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

“We're really proud of our graduates' efforts and their accomplishment,” Haley said. Nationally, 87 percent of students with an ASN degree passed the National Council Licensure Exam - or NCLEX, as it is commonly referred to.

Those who passed are eligible to become registered nurses. In addition to their two years of nursing classes, ASN graduates remain on campus for a week following graduation to review and prepare for the test.

Nursing is one of the most popular majors at Pitt-Bradford, which offers a two-year ASN leading to the NCLEX and a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
