Faculty publish and present around the world

Faculty members have been busy publishing and presenting and studying around the globe.

Dr. Duane Mitchell, assistant professor of business management, and Dr. Wes Chiang Hsiao Chiang, assistant professor of marketing, collaborated on several papers. They presented the first two at the International Conference of Management, Leadership and Business Management in Texas.

The papers were “Will the Pay Ratio Disclosure Rule Lead to Pressure from Stakeholders to Decrease CEO Pay as a CSR Initiative?” and “Exploring the Evolution of Business Schools' Education to Business Schools' Business.”

Mitchell also traveled to Seattle to present another paper by the pair in conjunction with Dr. Ken Wang, associate professor of computer information systems and technology, “The Impact of Transformational Leadership on Job Satisfaction in Investment Servicing.”

Dr. Tracee Howell, assistant professor of composition, spent a week at the Wisconsin Center for Film and Theater Research at the University of Wisconsin, where she researched 20th century American writer Vera Caspary. Caspary was a novelist who also wrote screenplays as well as dramatic plays and was most well known for her 1942 novel “Laura,” which was made into an Oscar-winning film in 1944.

Dr. Ovidiu Frantescu, assistant professor of petroleum technology, was an author on a paper that named a fossil after another member of the Pitt-Bradford faculty, Dr. Adina Frantescu, visiting assistant professor of petroleum technology. Adina Frantescu found the fossil - a member of an extinct family of crabs about the size of a thumbnail - in the field in central Romania.

Dr. Michael Klausner, associate professor of sociology, co-authored an entry on High Performance Work Teams and Organizations for the “Global Encyclopedia of Public Administration and Public Policy.”

Dr. Nancy McCabe, professor of writing, led a group of students to Japan to visit the university's sister college there, the Yokohama College of Commerce. She then traveled to Huangzhou and Yiwu, China, to perform research for an upcoming creative nonfiction project.

Dr. Klaus Wuersig, associate professor of engineering, presented a paper, “Why Should Students Have a Laboratory in Linear Circuits I?” in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Dr. Don Ulin, associate professor of English, made a presentation at the annual conference of the Interdisciplinary Nineteenth-Century Studies Association in Rome, Italy.

Dr. Denise Piechnik, assistant professor of biology, traveled to Taiwan to learn about hymenoptera, including predatory wasps, bees and ants.
