Graduates headed to medical school, law school and workforce

Pitt-Bradford is sending four of its biology graduates off to medical school, while other students will pursue health-related degrees, a variety of advanced degrees or enter the workforce.

Krista Fried of Pittsburgh and Andrew McRandal of New Kensington will both begin their medical studies at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie next fall.

Kisun Peters-Diaz from Salamanca, N.Y., will head to Paris Descartes University in Paris, France, for medical school.

DeVonte Sadler of Coatesville will begin a post-baccalaureate program at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia that will lead to a Master of Science in biomedical studies and acceptance into medical school.

Fellow biology major Tiffany Gardner of Williamsport will pursue her doctor of pharmacy degree at Jefferson College of Pharmacy at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.

In another academic area, three criminal justice graduates have their sights set on legal studies. Jenna Dean of Binghamton, N.Y., will attend law school in the fall, but has yet to choose from the three to which she has been accepted.

Alexander Haefner of Williamsport will attend Widener Commonwealth School of Law in Harrisburg, while DaOndreya Green of McKeesport will begin work toward a Master of Science in legal studies at California University of Pennsylvania.

Some students will pursue graduate degrees related to business. Jasmine McGhee, an accounting major from Lansdowne, will begin a Master of Science in financial services at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia.

Aaron VanSickles, a business management major from Coudersport, will pursue a Master of Business Administration at St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, N.Y. Timothy Atkinson, a sport and recreation management major from Carlisle, will pursue a Master of Science in organizational development and leadership at Shippensburg University.

Others will pursue health-related studies. Kaitlyn Williams, an athletic training major from Stewartstown, will begin a Master of Science in sport and physiology at West Chester University.

Mikayla Brinker, a psychology major from Cyclone, will pursue a Master of Science in counseling psychology at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh while working as a direct support professional at Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh.

Mohammed A. Qahtani of Damman, Saudi Arabia, and Joshua McFadden of Fairview will head straight into the workforce with their Associate of Science degrees in petroleum technology. Qahtani will be a lab technician for Saudi Aramco in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, while McFadden will be a quality control technician at American Refining Group in Bradford.

Cody Stephenson of Portersville, who is earning a Bachelor of Science in energy science and technology and associate's degrees in engineering science and petroleum technology, will be an integrity engineer at Lake Superior Consulting in Sewickley.

Cody McMillen, an environmental studies major from Sugar Grove, will work for the U.S. Forest Service in Irvine.

Others entering the business world are Kate Colella, an accounting and business management major from Bradford who will be an accountant with LabelPack Automation in Bradford; Susan Benton, an accounting and business management major from Warren who will be a staff accountant at Baker, Tilly, Virchow, Krause, LLP in Allentown; and Brian Burke of Bethlehem who will be a management trainee with Sherwin Williams in Allentown.

Matthew Biehl, a computer information systems and technology student from Fairfield, Conn., will work in information security at IPC Systems Inc. in his hometown.

In the world of entertainment, Lanessa Hickman, a history-political science major from Lees Summit, Mo., will be a teacher and assistant director at Coterie Theater in Kansas City, Mo. Sage Messenger, a hospitality management major from Friedens, will be a front desk manager at Seneca Allegany Casino in Salamanca, N.Y.

Those going into health, service or education include Mitchell McEwen, a biology education 7-12 major, who will be a long-term substitute teacher in the Bradford Area School District. Genny Brockel, a broadcast communications major from Allegany, N.Y., will be an enrollment specialist at St. Bonaventure University.

Brittany Zernick, a biology major from Harrisburg, will be a pharmacy technician with Weis Markets Pharmacy. Ethan Acaster, an accounting and business management major from Doylestown, will work in data collection verification at Teva Pharmaceuticals in Horsham.

Several criminal justice majors are going into human services: Jordan Finotti of Erie will be a behavioral specialist at Perseus House in Erie; Brandon Rice of Clarks Mills will work at the George Junior Republic school and youth treatment facility; and Kaitlin Smead of Rew will be a patient-care nursing assistant at the Cleveland Clinic.

Steven McFetridge, an exercise science major from Chambersburg, will be the director of personal training at Gold's Gym in his hometown.

Victoria Kunselman, a general studies major from Pittsburgh, will be an advanced patient care technician at Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Several nursing students going to work in their fields are Kelsy Cataldo of Warren at Warren General Hospital, Stephen McNinch of Bradford with Geisinger Medical Center, Chelsey Russell of Port Allegany at UPMC Cole in Coudersport, and Krista Woodford in the emergency room at Penn Highlands DuBois.

Katie Huggler, a psychology major from St. Marys, joined AmeriCorps, a domestic version of the Peace Corps. Shaun Stack, a psychology major from Jacksonville, Fla., will be a shift supervisor for Beacon Light Behavioral Health Systems.
