Hospitality management program named among most affordable

Pitt-Bradford's hospitality management program has been included among the 50 Most Affordable Small Colleges for Hospitality Administration and Management by BestHospitalityDegrees.com.

Using figures from the National Center for Education Statistics, the website examined 150 schools with fewer than 3,000 students that offered an associate or bachelor's degree in hospitality or hotel, motel and restaurant management.

Pitt-Bradford's program was ranked 47th.

“We are thrilled to be recognized as an affordable hospitality program,” said Jennifer Forney, instructor of hospitality management and director of the program. “The size and uniqueness of our program allows our students to take what they are learning in the classroom and apply it as we work with businesses in the community.

“Experiential learning is an effective way to have students better prepared for their future careers with very few costs beyond tuition.”

Recently, students have organized an information fair to promote World Tourism Day and bring students to downtown Bradford, created sample itineraries for educators wishing to bring their students on a field trip to the Allegheny National Forest, and served themed snacks for a reading by the Newbery Award-winning children's author Avi.

Pitt-Bradford's hospitality management program is a four-year bachelor's degree program that includes not only general education, but also a diversity of courses in management topics, leadership, human resources, food service and accounting. The program includes 800 hours of hands-on experience.

Recent graduates work in hotel management, food service, conference services, airlines and more.
