Students currently enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville who will finish their work there this year can continue their education at an even more affordable rate at Pitt-Bradford in the 2013-2014 academic year.
While all transfer students with a minimum GPA of 2.5 are eligible for a merit scholarship, students who have completed an associate degree or at least 60 credits at Pitt-Titusville will receive a larger merit award.
“The enhanced merit scholarship will benefit both institutions,” said Dr. Livingston Alexander, president of both Pitt-Bradford and Pitt-Titusville.
“Students at Pitt-Titusville will have an incentive to remain at Pitt-Titusville to complete the associate degree, and Pitt-Bradford will benefit by paving the way for students at Pitt-Titusville to complete a bachelor’s degree at Pitt-Bradford.”
In May, the University of Pittsburgh named Alexander the president of both campuses in order to reduce the university’s costs for administering the Titusville campus and increase educational opportunities at the Titusville campus.
For in-state students who plan to live on campus at Pitt-Bradford, that award will be $5,500 per year; for in-state students who plan to live off campus, the award will be $2,000 per year. For out-of-state students living on campus, the award will be $11,500 per year against their higher out-of-state tuition.
The larger transfer amount is not being offered to students from any other campuses in the Pitt system.
“Pitt-Bradford and Pitt-Titusville have a special relationship,” Alexander said. “This will help Pitt-Titusville, help Pitt-Bradford and, most of all, help the students.”
