Grant applies to younger siblings entering school this coming fall

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford has created an exclusive new room grant for students who enroll starting in the fall of 2024 and have older siblings already attending Pitt-Bradford and living on campus.

“Pitt-Bradford continues to be a family destination for brothers and sisters of enrolled students,” said Alex Nazemetz, associate vice president of enrollment management and director of admissions.

“This new grant, along with the other generous aid we offer on our campus, is our way of keeping families together and helping them afford a Pitt-Bradford education and a University of Pittsburgh degree,” Nazemetz added.

The new grant covers the cost of an average double-occupancy room, currently valued at $7,136 a year.

The room grant for siblings would be available until the older sibling graduates or leaves the university.
“We’ve also seen several sets of twins and a few triplets attend together,” Nazemetz said, “and this grant will apply to them as well.”

If the twins, triplets or larger set of siblings have an older brother or sister already enrolled and living on campus, all of the younger siblings would be eligible for the room grant. If they don’t have a sibling already enrolled, the oldest would pay for housing while the other one or two – or more – would be eligible to receive the room grant.

Pitt-Bradford offers several types of housing, including a first-year quad that features a freshman-only living community where first-year students live in either Livingston Alexander House or Fesenmyer House.

Alexander House is a traditional residence hall where students live in two-person bedrooms within a section of 24 to 36 students with men’s and women’s bathrooms with private showers and toilets. Students have access to community lounges and fitness centers, where they can gather and make friends easily.

In Fesenmyer House, students live in two-, four- or five-person apartments. Each apartment has its own living room, kitchen, bathroom and storage space.
