The festival celebrates the many different cultures represented by the Pitt-Bradford student body, faculty and staff and the surrounding community. This year's theme is “A Celtic Gathering.”
The festival will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Frame-Westerberg Commons. It will feature cuisine from six international sampling stations as well as international booths and displays and entertainment. A donation of $5 will be accepted at the door.
The displays will include a drumming circle, basket weaving, the Allegheny Mountain Cloggers, a Celtic Kids' Corner, a sushi table, an Out of my Comfort Zone booth, a Story of Two Rabbis, a Tartan booth , an Emerald Isle Booth, a study abroad booth and a Peace Corps booth.
Beginning at 8 p.m., entertainment will begin in the Mukaiyama University Room, where Pitt-Bradford's Diamond Steppers and Basic Pitches a cappella group will perform, followed by the Allegheny Mountain Cloggers.
At 8:30 p.m., the Celtic rock band Barleyjuice from Philadelphia will take the stage. An episode of NBC's hit series “The Office” featured the band's signature song, “Weekend Irish.” The group has released six albums since forming in 1998.
A committee of more than 20 students, faculty and staff coordinates the annual festival. It is co-sponsored by the Student Government Association, Student Activities Council, Office of the President, Pitt-Bradford's five academic divisions, academic affairs, student affairs, Metz Culinary Management and the Nontraditional Student Association.
