Pitt-Bradford has named award-winning journalist and former YES Network correspondent Josh Horton as its new sports information director.

Horton comes to Pitt-Bradford from his alma mater, Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa., where he was the assistant sports information director, promoting student athletes competing in 23 NCAA sports.

"We are very fortunate to have someone like Josh join our staff," said Lori Mazza, director of athletics and recreational sports. "With his experience, we look forward to him taking Pitt-Bradford to the next level in not only promoting the athletic programs but the students for what they do both in and out of the classroom."

In addition to his sports information experience, Horton has also spent time as a play-by-play broadcaster for the Morehead City (N.C.) Marlins, a member of the collegiate wood-bat Coastal Plain League, and the Mankato (Minn.) MoonDogs of the collegiate Northwoods League.

While in college, Horton also served as the assistant director of media relations for the New York Yankees' Triple-A affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

He previously spent time as a sports correspondent for the (Wilkes-Barre) Citizens' Voice, (Wilkes-Barre) Times Leader and Pittston Sunday Dispatch and has also done freelance work for numerous media outlets, including YES Network and MLB.com.

Horton has earned a Pennsylvania Newspaper Association Keystone Press Award for ongoing news coverage, was awarded the Northwoods League Co-Broadcaster of the Year in 2014 and received the "Young Journalist of the Year" award at the 2010 Tom Bigler Journalism Conference at Wilkes University.

As a student at Misericordia, Horton was part of the student newspaper, radio and television stations.

He lives in Bradford and enjoys playing golf in his spare time.
