To join the ranks of the Colleges of Distinction, Pitt-Bradford demonstrated strong performance across four categories: teaching, engaging students, vibrant community and successful outcomes.

To be designated a “college of distinction,” a school's curriculum must emphasize such core competencies as critical thinking, writing, oral skills, research and global perspectives. They must also offer dynamic out-of-classroom learning and study-abroad programs.

During the 2016-17 year, more than 20 students conducted research and 102 students served as interns at several locations, from Democratic National Convention to the Latin America Children's Fund. Additionally, 53 students studied abroad in many countries, including Austria, China, Denmark, Ecuador, Germany, Ireland, Japan and the island of Bonaire.

Colleges of Distinction also recognized Pitt-Bradford as a Public College of Distinction and awarded the university Field of Study distinctions in business, education and nursing.

Colleges of Distinction granted these awards after a comprehensive vetting process, selecting schools based on such qualities as accreditation, breadth of program, and a track record for success.

In addition to business management, Pitt-Bradford offers business and management-related degrees in accounting, economics, hospitality management and sport and recreation management.

Pitt-Bradford's 2016 associate of science in nursing students (the most recent year for which data is available) had a 100 percent pass rate on the nursing licensure exam. The university also offers a Bachelor of Science in nursing.

In education, Pitt-Bradford offers a program for early education teachers (preK-4) as well as secondary or K-12 teaching programs in biology; business, computer and information technology; chemistry; English; health and physical education; mathematics; and social studies.

The Colleges of Distinction profile for Pitt-Bradford is published online and will be included in a printed guidebook used by high school students, guidance counselors and families.
