Pitt-Bradford named a 'Best in the Northeast' college for 14th year

For the 14th consecutive year, Pitt-Bradford is one of the best colleges in the Northeast, according to The Princeton Review.

“I am delighted that Pitt-Bradford has been recognized once again for the superior academic experience we provide to our students in a friendly, supportive and personalized campus environment,” said Dr. Livingston Alexander, Pitt-Bradford's president.

The nationally known education services company recommends the university as one of 229 institutions on its “2018 Best Colleges: Region by Region” website feature that was posted on PrincetonReview.com Monday.

Ratings are based on an 84-question survey of 137,000 college students on hundreds of campuses. The survey asks students to rate their schools on dozens of topics of interest to applicants and their parents.

The report rates colleges in eight areas. Pitt-Bradford rated highest in fire safety, financial aid and admissions selectivity.

Students describe the “tight-knit community” as a place where “people are always out and about playing pick-up games of football, sand volleyball, soccer and basketball.”

Another student commented, “There are clubs for most majors and for a vast majority of interests from mixed martial arts to anime to Star Wars.”

Pitt-Bradford received a financial aid rating of 89 out of 99. The Princeton Review said that the average amount of each freshman scholarship and grant package is $13,275.

The university received an admissions selectivity rating of 80 out 99. The acceptance rate at Pitt-Bradford, according to the Princeton Review is 53 percent, with 21 percent of students entering with a high school grade point average of more than 3.75.

Pitt-Bradford also appears on The Princeton Review's list of green colleges announced in October of last year.

Last month Pitt-Bradford and three of its programs - business, education and nursing - earned recognition from Colleges of Distinction.
