Pitt-Bradford receives nine national higher education advertising awards
A variety of materials and projects recognized
The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford received nine national higher education advertising awards for several creative projects, including videos and an advertising campaign that showcase the programs in the George B. Duke Engineering and Information Technologies Building.
Pitt-Bradford received five Gold Awards, two Silver Awards, one Bronze Award and one Merit Award in the 39th Annual Educational Advertising Awards Program, the most awards the campus has ever won at one time in the competition. Last year, Pitt-Bradford received eight awards in the contest.
The Educational Advertising Awards Programs is the largest educational advertising awards competition in the United States. A panel of higher education marketing and advertising professionals judged more than 2,000 entries from more than 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools from all 50 states and several countries.
Pitt-Bradford received Gold Awards in the Special Events Materials category for materials created for the university’s 60th anniversary, which included a new logo, light pole banners, T-shirts and stickers; the Digital Video Ad – Less Than 2 Minutes category for a 30-second video featuring some of the hands-on projects students work on in the Duke Building; the Total Advertising Campaign category for a collection of creative materials, including videos, a brochure and a print ad, used to promote the Duke Building and the programs housed in it; the Newspaper Advertising Series category for print ads with the theme “Love Where You Learn”; and the Poster category for a poster sent to high schools.
The campus received Silver Awards in the Direct Mail Category for a series of postcards mailed to prospective students and the Integrated Marketing Campaign category for a newly refreshed branding campaign that will be launched later this month.
Pitt-Bradford received a Bronze Award in the Special Video category for a drone video tour of the Duke Building and a Merit Award in the Publication/External category for the Summer 2023 issue of Portraits magazine.
“All of this award-winning work,” said Pat Frantz Cercone, executive director of communications and marketing, “was created by an amazing team of writers, editors, designers and photographers, both on campus and off, who work incredibly well together to share the stories of our campus community in a compelling way.”
John Sizing of JS Publication Design in Wellesley, Mass., designed many of the award-winning pieces, including the poster, newspaper ad series, Portraits magazine, and the direct-mail postcards.
The 60th anniversary materials were developed by Landesberg Design, a design firm in Pittsburgh, Forbes Marketing Group, a promotional product distributor in Greenland, N.H., and All Image Graphics in Warren.
Epicosity, a marketing and digital media firm in Sioux Falls, S.D., created the award-winning videos, and Red Cactus Marketing, a marketing agency in Tucson, Ariz., developed the newly refreshed branding campaign.
Pitt-Bradford has now received 40 Educational Advertising Awards in the last six years.
