Beginning Monday, April 2, faculty, staff, students and wellness program members will need to use their University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Panther Cards to get into the Richard E. and Ruth McDowell Sport and Fitness Center.

In order to make the transition to the new system easier, doors will be open without card access from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday through April 29.

Beginning April 30, Panther Cards will be needed to enter the building during scheduled facility hours.

Panther Cards are already used for access to the Kenneth C. Jadlowiec Fitness Center.

Panther Cards should be marked with a “Panther P” logo on the bottom right corner of the back of the card. Faculty, staff, students and wellness program members who do not have the Panther P on their cards will need to get a new card from The Panther Shop in the Frame-Westerberg Commons.

The center will be unlocked for public events such as volleyball and basketball games.

For commencement, the building will be locked following commencement rehearsal on April 27 and not reopened until a few hours before commencement on April 29.

The University of Pittsburgh has been adding the card access system to some of its buildings on the Pittsburgh campus as part of proactive steps by the university to keep students safe. Enhanced security measures are now being added to some buildings on regional campuses.
