A story by a Pitt-Bradford student appears in the February/March 2016 issue of Country Magazine.
Patricia Blakesslee, an early education major from Salamanca, N.Y., said she wrote the story about her three dogs stealing her wig for a humor writing assignment in Dr. Nancy McCabe's feature writing class last spring.
“My classmates seemed to really enjoy it,” Blakesslee said. “Dr. McCabe encouraged me to send it off to a publication that accepts 'funny animal stories.' I went home that same day, did a Google search for 'magazines that accept funny animal stories,' and Country Magazine was the first to pop up.
Blakesslee said she did not hear back from the magazine and did not know it had been accepted until her mother-in-law saw it in print. After contacting the magazine, Blakesslee received $250 payment for the story.
