Ten graduate with Master of Social Work

Students earn Pitt social work degree on Bradford campus

    Ten residents of the region were recognized this month for earning their Master of Social Work as a cohort of students to do their coursework at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
    Speakers included Dr. Catherine Koverola, president of Pitt-Bradford; Elizabeth Farmer, dean of the School of Social Work at the University of Pittsburgh; and Stephanie Eckstrom, coordinator of the Pitt-Bradford MSW program.
    Student speakers were Carl McGowen of Olean, N.Y., and Nicole Shrubb of Kane.
    In addition to McGowen and Shrubb, those graduating were Stacie Clerkin of Weedville, Sierra Greenman of Poland, N.Y., Cassandra Hinman of Salamanca, N.Y., Kayla Kenny of Erie, Elizabeth Rix of Shinglehouse, Annalisa Ryding of Kane, Glenn Smith of Bradford and Nicole Tak of Eldred.
    Graduates began taking classes in the fall of 2016 and completed 42 credits of coursework plus 18 credits of field placement.
    The University of Pittsburgh began offering its Master of Social Work at the Bradford campus in 2002. Since then, more than 100 social work professionals in the Twin Tiers region have completed the degree.
