Tuition to remain the same for 2018-19

Tuition at Pitt-Bradford will be the same for the 2018-19 academic year as it was for the previous academic year.

The University of Pittsburgh Board of Trustees met Monday, when they approved the university's $2.3 billion budget and set tuition rates for all five Pitt campuses.

Tuition for both in-state and out-of-state students will remain the same at Pitt-Bradford, and students from 24 counties in Western New York will still be able to pay in-state tuition. In-state tuition has been set at $12,940, out-of-state tuition at $24,184 annually.

The cost of room and board at Pitt-Bradford will increase by 3 percent. Despite the increase, Pitt-Bradford's room and board rates are still some of the very lowest among public colleges and universities in Pennsylvania.

“The University has delivered on its commitment to control tuition,” said Dr. Lawrence Feick, interim president of Pitt-Bradford and the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville. “Our students at the Bradford and Titusville campuses will be able to continue to take advantage of the many opportunities at Pitt.”

To help students cover the cost of their education, Pitt-Bradford offers need-based and merit-based financial aid. During 2017-18, 98% of students who applied for aid received some form of assistance. During the 2017-18 academic year, the average financial aid award for was roughly $16,374 for Pennsylvania students and $23,000 for out-of-state students.    

“All of us on the Bradford and Titusville campuses are grateful to our legislators for strengthening their investment in our university as well as approving a budget in a timely fashion, which will enable us to plan more efficiently for the coming academic year.”

Last month, the Pennsylvania legislature and Gov. Tom Wolf approved a budget that included a 3 percent increase in the appropriation for the University of Pittsburgh and the Commonwealth's other state-related universities.
