Vocal Arts Ensemble to perform songs from 'The Working Life'

The Vocal Arts Ensemble will hold a spring concert at noon April 12 in the Studio Theater of Blaisdell Hall.

The concert, which is free and open to the public, is part of the university's Spectrum series. A light lunch will be served as part of the event.

“We will be doing a program entitled 'The Working Life,' a mixture of pieces from different styles, including popular music by Bruce Springsteen, Pete Seeger and Dolly Parton, as well as folk songs and classical works,” said Dr. Joshua Groffman, assistant professor of music and director of the group.

“The group has made great musical progress this semester, and we've had a lot of fun putting this concert together.”

Solos will be performed by Brook Imbriale, a sophomore interdisciplinary arts major from Beaver Falls; Lanessa Hickman, a senior history-political science major from Lees Summit, Missouri; Katey Pacific, a freshman radiological science student from Wellsboro; and Kelly Goble, a senior psychology major from Cuba, New York.

Piano accompaniment will be provided by Sydney Ellison, a freshman forensic science major from Greensburg, who will also perform a solo.

The Vocal Arts Ensemble rehearses and performs throughout the school year on campus and at select off-campus locations.
